An opportunity has arisen for a Legal Assistant at our firm located in Upper Hutt.

This is an opportunity for a self motivated, independent worker who understands the importance of meeting clients’ needs.

This is a fulltime position principally involving administrative support for litigation and conveyancing work.Experience working in a general practice firm with a litigation and conveyancing focus would be highly desirable but not essential.

As we are a small friendly team, a willingness to assist in all areas of legal practice is essential.

Registered Legal Executive

Main Street Legal is a well-established general practice law firm serving clients across the Hutt Valley. The firm provides practical, client-focused legal services in conveyancing, property, trusts, wills, estates, and other general practice matters. The firm is seeking a capable and motivated Legal Executive to join its team.

About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity for a registered legal executive to take on a varied and rewarding role with a strong focus on residential and commercial conveyancing within a general practice environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with clients and colleagues across a broad range of files and will be expected to manage matters with an appropriate level of autonomy.

Key Responsibilities

The role is expected to include:

  • managing residential and commercial conveyancing files from instruction through to settlement;
  • preparing agreements for sale and purchase, Landonline/e-dealing documentation, and settlement statements;
  • advising clients on property transactions, refinancing, subdivisions, and related matters;
  • liaising with clients, banks, brokers, agents, and other professionals;
  • maintaining accurate file management, time recording, and compliance processes;
  • ensuring compliance with professional obligations, including AML/CFT requirements.

About You

  • are a registered legal executive;
  • have experience in conveyancing within a New Zealand legal practice;
  • are confident managing files independently while recognising when collaboration is required;

  • are familiar with Landonline, e-dealings, and general practice systems and processes.

Desirable Experience
