About the Role
The successful candidate will work across a broad range of matters, with a particular emphasis on property and conveyancing, while also contributing to general practice files as required.
The role may include work involving:
- residential and commercial conveyancing
- sale and purchase transactions
- refinancing and related lending matters
- subdivisions and development-related property work
- leases and other property documentation
- wills, enduring powers of attorney, estate administration and trusts
- general private client and small business matters
About the Applicant
Applications are invited from lawyers who:
- hold, or are eligible to hold, a current New Zealand practising certificate
- have experience in property law and conveyancing
- are confident managing files with an appropriate level of autonomy
- communicate clearly and effectively with clients, colleagues and referrers

Experience in broader general practice will be advantageous.

Registered Legal Executive
Main Street Legal is a well-established general practice law firm serving clients across the Hutt Valley. The firm provides practical, client-focused legal services in conveyancing, property, trusts, wills, estates, and other general practice matters. The firm is seeking a capable and motivated Legal Executive to join its team.
About the Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a registered legal executive to take on a varied and rewarding role with a strong focus on residential and commercial conveyancing within a general practice environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with clients and colleagues across a broad range of files and will be expected to manage matters with an appropriate level of autonomy.
Key Responsibilities
The role is expected to include:
- managing residential and commercial conveyancing files from instruction through to settlement;
- preparing agreements for sale and purchase, Landonline/e-dealing documentation, and settlement statements;
- advising clients on property transactions, refinancing, subdivisions, and related matters;
- liaising with clients, banks, brokers, agents, and other professionals;
- maintaining accurate file management, time recording, and compliance processes;
- ensuring compliance with professional obligations, including AML/CFT requirements.
About You
Applications are invited from candidates who:
- are a registered legal executive;
- have experience in conveyancing within a New Zealand legal practice;
- are confident managing files independently while recognising when collaboration is required;
- communicate clearly and professionally with clients and colleagues;
- have strong drafting, organisational, and file management skills;
- are practical, reliable, and client-focused;
- are familiar with Landonline, e-dealings, and general practice systems and processes.
Desirable Experience
Preference may be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- residential property transactions;
- commercial property transactions;
- subdivisions.
